The driver who was hailed as a hero after he rescued a passenger from a cab with no seatbelts

A cab driver who jumped into action to rescue a passenger on a flight to Washington DC from Chicago has been hailed a hero.

The taxi driver, named as Andrew T. for his own safety, was on his way to the airport after delivering a package from the airport to a friend when the cab driver, who was not on duty, noticed something unusual.

T noticed something strange in the driver’s cab, so he jumped in the cab and pulled him from the backseat.

After being taken to the hospital, he was later diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury, according to The Associated Press.

T, who lives in South Bend, Indiana, has been on paid administrative leave from the Illinois Department of Transportation, according the Associated Press, but is not a driver.
